In addition to visual abnormalities such as discolouration and areas of moisture penetration, employees reported unpleasant odours, which were particularly noticeable when entering the building in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Against this background, the <a><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/mup-ibl.com\/en\/\"><strong>M&amp;P Umwelttechnik GmbH<\/strong><\/a><strong> - Part of<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/siera.com\/\">SIERA Alliance<\/a>with a technical assessment and the performance of a microbiological indoor air analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Particularly in sensitive facilities such as childcare centres, an objective, comprehensible and standard-oriented assessment is crucial. In the case of moisture damage, the focus is not only on the building fabric, but also on the question of whether the indoor air could be contaminated by microbiological influences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Initial situation: moisture damage and noticeable odours<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>During the inspection, damage was identified that indicated a probable ingress of moisture as a result of the roof leak. In several rooms <strong>Visible water damage to the ceilings<\/strong> recognisable. In addition to this <strong>Odour abnormalities<\/strong> described, which were particularly noticeable in the morning when entering the rooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In practice, such constellations are a typical reason to initiate a microbiological indoor air analysis - not to jump to conclusions, but to enable a professionally sound clarification based on a recognised procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The realisation was carried out by the <a href=\"https:\/\/mup-ibl.com\/en\/\"><strong>M&amp;P Umwelttechnik GmbH<\/strong><\/a><strong> - Part of <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/siera.com\/\"><strong>SIERA Alliance<\/strong><\/a> as part of a standardised procedure in accordance with VDI 4300 Sheet 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Scope of investigation: nine affected rooms<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>During the site inspection, a total of <strong>nine rooms<\/strong> identified in which:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>there was visible water damage to the ceilings,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>moisture ingress as a result of the roof leak was likely,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and odour abnormalities were described.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To assess possible microbial contamination of the indoor air, M&amp;P Umwelttechnik Heidelberg - a member of the SIERA Alliance - carried out the following tests in these nine affected rooms <strong>Indoor air measurements for cultivable moulds in accordance with VDI 4300 Sheet 10<\/strong> through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Methodological procedure: standardised sampling according to VDI 4300 Sheet 10<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sampling was standardised using <strong>Impaction process<\/strong>. A defined volume of air is applied to suitable nutrient media in order to produce viable mould spores. <strong>colony-forming units (CFU\/m\u00b3)<\/strong> - to record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to be able to meaningfully categorise the indoor values, a supplementary <strong>Outside air sample as reference<\/strong> is used.
